Medical disclaimer
This site does not diagnose or treat
The health guides and service pages on chetuchemist.co.ke are general educational information. They describe how illnesses commonly present and what test results generally mean. They cannot take account of your age, your medical history, your pregnancy status, what else you are taking, or anything a clinician would find by examining you.
Nothing on this site is a diagnosis, a prescription, or a substitute for professional medical advice. Do not delay seeking care, and do not stop or change a treatment a clinician has prescribed, because of something you read here.
What a pharmacist can and cannot do
Our pharmacist is qualified to advise on medicines, carry out the tests we offer, explain results, and identify when a problem needs a doctor. A pharmacist is not a doctor and cannot diagnose a condition, examine you clinically, or prescribe prescription-only medicines.
Where your situation needs a clinician, we will tell you so directly.
Emergencies
Do not use this website, and do not send us a message, in an emergency. Go to the nearest hospital.
Seek immediate care for any of the following:
- confusion, unusual drowsiness, or difficulty waking someone
- fits or convulsions
- difficulty breathing
- repeated vomiting so that nothing stays down
- severe abdominal pain, or blood in stool or vomit
- chest pain, or weakness or numbness on one side of the body
- severe weakness, unable to sit, stand or walk unaided
- very little or no urine passed
Medicines and Kenyan law
We do not advertise, name or price prescription-only medicines on this website. Under guidance issued by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, made under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (Cap 244), only over-the-counter products may be advertised to the public online.
Where a service page mentions that treatment may follow a test, that treatment is dispensed on assessment at our counter or prescribed by a clinician. It is not offered for sale through this website.
Accuracy and currency
We aim to keep this information accurate and current, and each guide shows when it was last updated. Medical guidance changes over time, and general information can become outdated. Where guidance from the Kenyan Ministry of Health or your own clinician differs from anything written here, follow theirs.
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, please tell us on 0792 855 271. We would rather correct it than defend it.
