Medicine Delivery in Kisumu

Not everyone can get to a chemist. You may be too unwell to travel, caring for someone who cannot be left, working hours that do not overlap with ours, or looking after an elderly parent on the other side of town. Chetu Chemist delivers door to door across Kisumu so that none of those situations means going without.

How to order

Send us a WhatsApp message on 0792 855 271. Tell us what you need and roughly where you are.

That is the whole process. There is no app to install, no account to create and no website form to fight with on a slow connection. WhatsApp is what people here already use, so it is what we use too.

A useful message includes:

• what you need, the medicine name if you know it, or simply what is wrong
• for whom, and their rough age, since dosing differs for children
• your location or nearest landmark
• when you need it

If you are unsure what you need, just describe the problem. Our pharmacist will ask a few questions and advise. If what you actually need is a doctor rather than a medicine, we will tell you that instead.

We confirm before we dispatch

Before anything leaves the shop we confirm what we have in stock, the total cost, and roughly when it will reach you. You agree to all three before we set off.

We do this because the alternative is somebody discovering the price at their gate with a rider standing in front of them, which is not a fair position to put anyone in.

Prescription medicines

Some medicines are prescription-only under Kenyan law. For those we need to see a valid prescription before we can dispense, a clear photograph on WhatsApp is fine.

This is not bureaucracy for its own sake. Prescription-only medicines are in that category because taking them without proper assessment can cause real harm, and because a pharmacy that hands them out freely is not one you should trust with your family’s health. If you do not have a prescription, we will tell you what you need to do to get one.

Areas we cover

We deliver across Kisumu. Nyamasaria and the immediately surrounding area is fastest, since that is where we are based, and we can often reach you the same day.

For areas further out, message us with your location and we will confirm timing before you commit to anything.

Packaging and discretion

Deliveries arrive in plain packaging. There is nothing on the outside that indicates it came from a pharmacy or what is inside.

Health is private, and in a neighbourhood where people know each other that privacy matters more, not less. Whatever you have ordered is nobody else’s business.

When delivery is not the right answer

We will say so when it is not. If your symptoms suggest something that needs examining, a delivered medicine is the wrong solution and could delay you getting proper care. Some things genuinely need a person to look at them, and some need a hospital today rather than a package tomorrow.

Equally, if what you need is a test rather than a treatment, a malaria test, a blood pressure reading, a blood sugar check, that has to happen in person. Those take minutes at the counter, and the malaria test costs KSh 100.

Repeat medicines for long-term conditions

The most common delivery we make is a repeat supply for someone managing high blood pressure or diabetes. These are the medicines it is most important not to run out of, and the ones most often missed, precisely because they treat conditions that feel fine day to day.

If you take something daily, message us a few days before you finish rather than on the morning you run out. That gives us time to confirm stock or source it, instead of you having a gap.

Tell us the name on the packet, or send a photograph of it. That removes any ambiguity about strength, which matters more than people realise, the same medicine at a different strength is a different treatment.

Paying

We confirm the total before dispatch and you pay on delivery or by mobile money, whichever suits you. There is no charge for the conversation, and no obligation once we have quoted, if the price is more than you expected, say so and we will look at what else might work.

What delivery is good for

Delivery works well for repeat medicines you already take, for over-the-counter items when you are too unwell to move, for a household that is short of one thing, and for elderly relatives who should not be walking to a shop in the heat.
